When you Just Can't
Sunday is my day to do it all. It’s my day off to pack in all the fun of a weekend and to prep for the next week.
This weekend was amazingly beautiful. The humidity has backed off a little and it’s been one of those rare summer days we get here in Nashville where you don’t hate being outside. So, I should have been on a trail, outside, running hard and dragging my dog around.
Then last night hit. And my stomach gave up the ghost. (Ongoing issues I’ll share about soon, maybe.)
So instead of kayaking or hiking, and food prepping and running errands. I slept in until 9am. And saw a movie, The Big Sick, go see it. I sat at a coffee shop and wrote while enjoying my coffee. Tried out a new restaurant in east Nashville AND I bummed around on my couch.
And, my food isn’t prepped for the week and I didn’t hike or hit a trail.
And while I feel a little guilty about it. The down day was nice and needed. Because while I could have pushed and still went out and hit the weekend hard, my body needed a break. And I’m glad I listened.
Hopefully this leads to better head space mentally for Monday.
Do you ever just have to stop?
