Hi.

Welcome, to my space.

Cades Cove, My Plan

Cades Cove, My Plan

In less than three months I’m going to walk the Cades Cove loop, an 11 mile loop in the Smokies. This time I’m going to hike this with my sister and dad and I’m trying to be smart about prep.

Lucky Saturday was beautiful here in Middle Tennessee. Low humidity and low 80’s. These days are like unicorns here in the summer. It was a perfect day to start training.

Bosco and I hit the trail at the end of my street. Peeler Park is about 5 minutes away, all paved, sunny and pretty accessible. The paved part is important to me. I’m used to hitting trails, not concrete and before I do Cades Cove, I want to get used to pavement. I think it’s harder on your joints and I need to be prepared for doing 11 miles + on all pavement.

Unfortunatly Bosco won't be able to go with. He's bear bait in the Smokies.

So my training plan: This weekend I did an easy 3 miles. During the week I plan to walk downtown Nashville a few miles after work. This is two fold, I get to avoid traffic and I will get some good hill training. Next week I will add on a mile and work my way up gradually.

Next goals, to find some great tennis shoes and to figure out how to fuel during. I’m excited to do this and even more so to complete this with my tribe.

Any tips or ideas? ALLLLLL the suggestions are welcome.
